The start of the 2023 Squash Otago junior coaching structure got underway on Wednesday with 20 juniors (divided into two sessions) being put through their paces by coaches Rod Bannister, Mark Gribben, Nick Askin & Sam Cross. A further 8 juniors were unable to attend due to other commitments or injury. Players represented the Clutha, Otago, Pirates, Taieri & Otago University Clubs.
From here, the intention is to have regular structured programmes & training squads in place and underway by the start of term two. ![]() The next HEAD Junior Series Tournament 2 which was to be hosted at Cromwell on Sunday, 2nd April has been postponed until later in the season. I will circulate the new date once confirmed but it will be before final tournament six which is being held in conjunction with the Otago Junior 'Open' at Wanaka on the weekend of 8th & 9th September. HEAD Junior Series Tournament 3 is scheduled to be hosted by Otago Squash Club on Sunday, 7th May. Poster out soon. ![]() The 1st of the 2023 HEAD Junior Series was played at Taieri on Sunday. Although the number of entrants was not large, the squash was very impressive with a number of close five-setters the order of the day. A huge thank you to HEAD and the Otago Sports Depot for sponsoring the series and to Rachel and th Taieri team for a well run tournament.
