The 2020 Top Secondary School's Tournament took on a different look this year with an individual as well as a teams tournament taking place last Friday of School's Sports week. Secondary School's that service year 7 students onwards were eligible to enter. Entries were received from Columba College and Kavanagh College in the girls events and Otago Boys High Schools, Kavanagh, John McGlashan & Tahuna in the boys. 2020 Winner of the Top School's Cup were: Otago Boy's High School & Kavanagh College. Winner of the court one and court four individual tournament were Riley Bridgman (Tahuna) & Jeremy Frie (Tahuna). The Otago Junior 'Open' in conjunction with the Wanaka Junior Tournament was hosted by the Wanaka Squash Club over the weekend. Numbers were small but the tournament was very enjoyable with many competitive matches in the 'B' & 'C' Grades. Nathan Hewson (Otago Squash Club) and Martha Toghill (Wanaka Squash Club) were convincing in winning their respective junior titles providing aspiration and great role models for the up-and-coming juniors. Ben Bankshaw, new to the sport of squash and who helped out by filling in due to a last minute withdrawal, won the Personality Cup for the 2020 year. Congratulations to all juniors that took part and a big 'thank you' to Pip Gardner, Hamish Menlove and the Wanaka team for making sure a very enjoyable 'boutique' junior tournament took place in an unusually trying year.
